As of September 2017, the management of the Register of Trainers and the provision of training certification has been managed by PHECC (Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council.) The programme provided for first aid training for workplace standard is First Aid Responder (FAR.)
The PHECC FAR programme is designed to meet the first aid and basic life support requirements that a person known as a “First Aid Responder” may encounter in the workplace.
In addition to Cardiac First Responder skills, the First Aid Responder possesses defined skills in the further management of a patient who has become suddenly ill or injured in the pre-hospital environment until emergency services arrive.

First Aid Responder Refresher Courses in Tullamore, Co Offaly
Duration of Training : 2 days | Maximum of 8 people per session
The First Aid Response Renewal or Refresher course aims to deliver the PHECC standard of First Aid Responder to those who are currently certified at PHECC FAR level (or QQI OFA.) It aims to revise a skill set that includes Cardiac First Response (CFR) along with the skills to assess and manage a range of emergency medical and trauma situations as part of the pre-hospital emergency care team.
Following the FAR Refresher course, the learner should be able to:
• Deal with life threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions in the pre-hospital environment until arrival of emergency medical services.
• Provide First Aid Response for conditions not thought to be life-threatening but are necessary to prevent further harm before the emergency medical services arrive.
• Provide pre-hospital First Aid Response in a wide range of environments including home and recreational settings.
• Display the requisite personal skills including composure, competence and self-confidence while understanding their limitations.
